Student Transformations:

I infinitely enjoyed your classes! As I mentioned, I am a yoga teacher and I really liked your creative way of moving the body... it opened my mind and my way of moving! I really liked the sequences and the different ways to get to complex poses! My students are very happy too!

Eugenia, Yoga Teacher

Mariel is my favorite yoga teacher. Her classes are challenging yet accessible, and I learn something new every time I practice with her. You can tell that Mariel puts a lot of thought and care into planning her classes. I always feel safe in Mariel's classes, and am encouraged to practice to the best of my abilities while listening to my body. Mariel incorporates concepts from anatomy and physiology into her classes, which helps me to understand the poses. Mariel does an amazing job reaching her students on their individual levels and providing a class that benefits each person. I feel so grateful that Denver has a yoga teacher like Mariel!”

 Noelle, Student

Mariel’s love for yoga is infectious. She brings with her an ever-growing knowledge base of all facets that are yoga. Combining this knowledge with compassion, quick wit, and humor, she creates and holds a space that is fertile for personal growth and healing.  Her classes are the right mixture of challenge and fun to keep people coming back. Just say yes to Mariel.

Bret, 200 RYT, Comeback Yoga

My first experiences with yoga, before I found Mariel’s class, had been uninspiring. I never really got what the fuss was about. But after my son was born I decided to attend a yoga class at Kula yoga for some “me” time. By pure luck, it was Mariel’s class.

Mariel helped me understand the true value and reason for yoga. I found that her insights to the journey that yoga provides us on and off the mat to be exactly what I had been looking for. Additionally, Mariel’s verbal commands for the appropriate alignment for each position are beyond helpful. While previous instructors would only say “go to warrior 2” and then maybe come and correct me, Mariel explains how the position should feel at each and every part of your body which makes it more likely for me to fully understand the position and be able to get it correct the next time on my own. When she does a hands on correction, she will explain what she is doing and then ensure that you felt the difference with her correction.

Each one of Mariel’s classes is thoroughly thought out. She will design her whole class around getting your body ready to perform the peak pose. I found that with her flow, I am able to get into positions so much easier because the class was designed to get my body ready to do just that. It has been almost 2 years and I still go to Mariel’s class almost every week. I am extremely grateful to have Mariel as a yoga instructor. I value everything she has taught me, both on and off the mat.

Rose, Student

For the last decade, Mariel has been passionately delving into the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga. She has practiced with phenomenal teachers in many lineages including Ashtanga, Iyengar, Forrest, and vinyasa. Since completing her 200 hour certification in 2013, Mariel has taught in studios, corporate settings, schools and with private clients. Mariel founded the Sangha Yoga Project in November 2019, which has become a wonderfully close-knit community of yogis with classes offered both in-person and online. With extensive training in human anatomy and physiology through her doctoral degree, Mariel’s classes are intelligently sequenced to teach the intricacies of alignment, expansion of breath and union of yoga’s 8 limbs for students to elevate their practice both on and off the mat.
